New Luke Ski FAWM song! MarsCon cartoon t-shirt! – Luke Ski Update 2/12/2014

  • LUKE SKI POSTS FIRST F.A.W.M. SONG, "BECAUSE OF BOB"!

In 2012 I did a Kickstarter in which one of the donation prizes was that I would write a song inspired by the donor, and release them all on a CD. I am participating in February Album Writing Month this year as an attempt to write and record the 9 songs I owe to those donors. If I can get them done quickly enough, I will release the CD at MarsCon 2014.

My first song, "Because Of Bob", is inspired by my largest donor, Bob 'Number 11' Mathews, whose donation directly led to everything mentioned in the song happening, most importantly, fulfilling my promise to anyone who donated over $1,750.00 that I would mow their lawn. Bob donated $2,200.

You can hear/download it and the rest of the Kickstarter/FAWM songs I'll be making at http://fawm.org/fawmers/lukeski .

  • FUND RAISER HIT ITS INITIAL GOAL! SECONDARY GOAL: $500

Thank you so much to everyone who bought the album & ordered the new logo t-shirt! Thanks to your generosity, we've raised the initial goal of $1,000 to cover the hotel room costs for our out-of-town, non-Guest-Of-Honor performers! Huzzah and hooray! 😀

Our secondary goal is to raise an additional $500. This is to reimburse myself for other Dementia Track expenses that I have paid for out of my own pocket, including the dealer room fees for 'Table 27', the printing of the Fund Raiser CDs, screenprinted logo t-shirts, new signage, and other expenses. So if you haven't ordered the 4-hour long 2014 album on CD or MP3, please consider picking up this year's collection. It is available along with all of our previous year's collections at http://marscondementia.com/fundraiser-shop .

  • ORDER THIS YEAR'S DEMENTIA TRACK CARTOON T-SHIRT NOW!

MarsCon 2014's theme is “Time is the key”. So, I drew all the Dementia Track participants as time travelers from fandom and pop-culture and arranged them on a T-shirt. (see the image at http://tinyurl.com/MC14DTshirt ) You can get the shirt from Dementia Radio's page at Spreadshirt: http://dementiaradio.spreadshirt.com . Remember, we will not have this t-shirt for sale at the convention itself, so if you want to have one to wear at the convention, you need to order it by about February 14th to ensure it gets shipped to your home in time.

Please note also that nobody (besides Spreadshirt) is making any money off of these shirts. They are not a part of the Dementia Track Fund Raiser, they are just being made because the fans wanted nifty shirts to wear. Special thanks to “Blasted Bill” Putt for setting up the shirts for us on the Dementia Radio Spreadshirt account. • WEBSITE GETS MAKEOVER, NEW LOGO COLORED BY LINDSAY SMITH!

Our webmistress Sara Trice has given http://marscondementia.com an update, which includes our new tag-line "The World's Longest-Running Fandom Convention Comedy Music Concert Series". Also, I asked the Lindsay Smith if she'd do a professional coloring job to the new MarsCon Dementia Track logo I designed, and it looks phenomenal! So stop by the website and check out what an awesome job she did, and for any other information you may need.

THE MARSCON DEMENTIA TRACK NOW HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE!

  • DEMENTIA RADIO ROOM PARTY STILL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The folks of Dementia Radio .org are doing another room party celebrating their station, it's DJs, and the comedy music it plays. However, they are in need of volunteers to help for a couple of hours each at the party. Nate Boi, the guy in charge of the party, said this regarding volunteering: "When I say "help for a couple of hours", that's pretty much what I mean. Just be in the room for two to three hours, check IDs, hand out drinks, and generally make sure no one's doing anything stupid. I don't need a *lot* of stuff from you. But I do need you to commit and show up." People interested in volunteering should contact me via http://www.thegreatlukeski.com/contact . Thanks.

  • LUKE SKI APPEARS ON "THE SCOPE" PODCAST!

Inspired by my song 'Fake Adult', hosts Jared, Shane, and Adam invited me to sit in on their podcast "The Scope" to take part in their discussion on just what makes a person an adult. You can listen to the audio podcast, or watch us all on video via their YouTube page! The links are all at their website: http://www.thescopeshow.com/episodes/episode-165-the-robocop-scenario-growing-up-is-hard-to-do/

  •  "FAKE ADULT" - a new song by the great Luke Ski!

My first new song in over a year has gotten a lot of positive feedback, with 22 comments on its page at the FuMP, and more from Facebook & Twitter. You can still leave a comment for it at the FuMP if you like, as it's the primary form of compensation FuMP song posters recieve. Download the MP3 now for 99 cents at the FuMP, or you can get it from my Bandcamp in a variety of digital audio formats.

Additionally, Dr. Demento played "Fake Adult" on his Jan. 25th show! If you'd like to hear him play the song again, and possibly make the Top Ten for February, you can REQUEST "FAKE ADULT" for "The Dr. Demento Show" at http://drdemento.com/request , and please include your e-mail address when you do so it counts towards the monthly Top Ten tabulations!

In related news, my "Surfin Bird (Family Guy Remix)" mash-up was #10 on Dr. Demento's Top Ten for January 2014! Freakin' sweet! As always, you can listen to the show every week at http://drdemento.com/online.html . I always do, and you should to. 🙂

"Fake Adult" has also been at or near the top of the charts of the Mad Music Dementia Top 20 for the past 4 weeks! Thanks to everyone who's been voting! To participate & listen...

  • LUKE SKI COVERS THE ORIGINAL "SCUD RAP"

January 29th was the 20th birthday / anniversary of the comic book "Scud: The Disposable Assassin". Creator and 'Mountain Dew guy' Rob Schrab asked his fans to post fan art birthday cards for Scud. Rather than creating a new piece of fan art, I created a cover version of the original "Scud Rap" from the Sega Saturn 1997 video game. I then took a whole lot of Scud fan art I did in the 90's and made a image gallery music video and put it on YouTube. Then, I posted all that old fan art to my Scud fan art galley on my Deviant Art page.
