12 FuMP tracks made the countdown (10 main page, 2 Sideshow), and a huge pile of congrats to The Library Bards for getting their first Funny 25 tracks with "Geeky Girl" and "Regeneration", as well as Scooter Picnic with "It's Frog Noticing Time" which is the first song project by TV's Kyle to make the year-end chart! Speaking of two-fers, congrats to the double entries by both Power Salad and Steve Goodie! And I gotta mention Worm Quartet and Insane Ian who make a couple of my favorite songs of the year which I requested montly, amongst others listed here. 🙂 And a shout-out to our FuMP Sideshow contributors with their break-in movie review interviews, Chris Wolvie, and Anthony "A-Logg" Logatto!

And then we get to me... "Candybars" was the #1 most requested song of 2017 on "The Dr. Demento Show". I am so happy, flattered, humbled, honored, and, quite frankly, hungry. I've lost 20 pounds on Weight Watchers since I posrted this song, and I'm going to do my best to use it an an anthem to inspire me to keep going and getting healthier and slimmer. Thank you all so so much to everyone who supported me and this song this year, and kept requesting it to be played again every month.

And as the good Doctor himself pointed out on the show, this is my FIFTH NUMBER ONE SONG OF THE YEAR on Dr. Demento's Funny 25 Countdown. I did some research to see who else might have had more Number One songs of the year than that, and the answer isn't surprising:

I asked Jeff Morris (Dr. Demento's archiver extrordinaire), if I were to go about saying that "I have gotten the #1 spot of the year on Dr. Demento's Funny 25 more than any other artist in the show's history", do you think that's truthful, or is that me stretching the truth to suit my egotistical needs? His response was "It's hard to say, but I certainly wouldn't count 1981 [& 1984] as him having two #1s. He was #1 locally and nationally, but I'd just count that as one #1." ... "So I'd say you both have 5 year end #1s. But technically you're right, on the shows heard in most parts of the country, he was only announced as having 4 #1s while you've had 5. You could certainly say no one has more year-end #1s than you (since 5 is not greater than 5) and I don't think anyone would debate that. Or just write and record another #1 for next year, and stop Al from doing the same!" Well, I certainly intend to keep making funny music, and I don't think even Superman could stop "Weird Al" from doing anything he sets his mind to, so we'll just see how things shake out in the future. In any case, for the sake of my ego, my resume, and having another feather to put in my cap, I can definately say "I've had five #1 songs of the year on "The Dr. Demento Show", and the only other act to do that is "Weird Al" Yankovic." So I have that going for me.

All in all, that's 16 years in a row I've had a song on the Funny 25, with songs of mine appearing on a total of 19 Funny 25 countdowns, a grand total of 24 songs. Copying, pasting, and updating from last year, here's...
